SWEET NUMBER SIXTEEN :)

When it comes to experiencing true English hospitality you have to somehow morph your preconceptions of a big city style hotel. In England, for example, some hotels want to make you feel like you never left home, or at least cut the miles of distance from it. While checking in at one of Firmdales's Group Hotels you will notice that the serious and cold aspect of  a common hotel instantly vanishes; splashes of color, textures and unique knick-knacks from foreign lands set the hotel apart while taking on the wonderful task of giving life and warmth to the space.

Be prepared to sit in a garden room and enjoy a sunny afternoon after taking a stroll through the conservatory, or borrow one of the interesting books from the library while enjoying a cup of English tea in the lush gardens; just relax and enjoy... Imagine the possibilities!

 After dissecting the hotel's pictures for hours I am assuming that the hardest part of cheking-in at one of this extraordinary hotels is wanting to check-out.

Sex and the City 2 {A Delightful Set}

After seeing the much anticipated sequel of TV’s sensation "Sex and the City" I felt the movie paid for my ticket, not so much for the plot or acting (which has never impressed me), but for the rich, chic and smart rooms that made this movie enticing and simply superb. Just at the very beginning Carrie (played by Sarah Jessica Parker), quips "I've been cheating on fashion with furniture" ...Just then I knew I was up for a treat. I found myself paying more attention to drapes, furniture and accessories that to the actual dialogues; I was carefully dissecting every aspect of the beautiful sets, wanting to know who made that "out of this world" blown-glass lamp or were to get that headboard fabric. So I did. And now I'm passing them to you, so you too can recreate the heavenly looks in your own home of a movie that did not deliver in content but did in design.

So here's how I start my "Design Hotel" series, hotels around the world so delicious and inviting that make you want to teleport yourself to a vacation of laid-back luxury.

BEING AWAY...

It's being a long time since my last post... A lot has happened in the last few months... Great opportunities in Interior Design have opened for me, which is actually extremely good considering the lack of them in past few months, the most recent one was with no other than El Cortez Hotel and Casino, a landmark in vintage Vegas, the Vegas that its trying to resurface and put on a new face to our beloved and forgotten Downtown, the process has already begun, the road ahead is long and bumpy but the most important of all is that there is a substantial crowd ready and willing to make it happen; from entrepreneurs to artist, chefs, thinkers, designers the list goes on and on, all of them making this new movement even more fascinating and exciting.

It’s being a real pleasure working in projects that are meant to convey something bigger. Call it the downtown revolution or simply improving a forgotten and most of the time overlooked area of our city, what it is true, is that its strong, and I believe as many other do, that this is the beginning of what most locals dream… A real city, a real downtown with culture and color, a metropolis were we can have a “real” cup of coffee and chat about almost anything while enjoying and supporting the astounding local art.

I gather some of my favorite photographs that inspire my designs, being Interiors or my jewelry line. I hope someone out there finds them inspiring as much as I do.
